Faith Monthly

Can you believe this year has already reached the half-way mark? While it may be true that the world around us is reeling from the adverse after effects of a world pandemic, God has and is proving Himself faithful to His nature and Word! He is as generous as He is personal!

Let’s take a look at the generous nature of our God. To begin with, let’s consider His Name. He is El Shaddai – The God Who is More Than Enough. Not just enough, but MORE THAN ENOUGH. In Genesis 15:1, God calls Himself our Exceedingly Great Reward! Not just a reward, but AN EXCEEDINGLY GREAT REWARD. In John 10:10 Jesus, the Son of God, declares that He came so we could HAVE and ENJOY LIFE – and have it in ABUNDANCE, TO THE FULL, till it OVERFLOWS. Not just an enjoyable life, but a life that is so good – IT ABOUNDS and OVERFLOWS! (AMPC) There is absolutely nothing stingy about the nature of our God. Psalm 84:11 says that He will not withhold any good thing from those who love Him.

Now let’s take a look at the personal nature of God. In Jeremiah 29:11, we are told that God thinks about us, and that His thoughts towards us are GOOD! Take a look at what Psalm 139:17-18 in the Amplified Classic translation says, “How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, [could I count to the end] I would still be with You.” He doesn’t just think about us occasionally, He thinks good thoughts about us all the time!

We are always taken aback when we hear how there are preachers that insist on telling their congregations that God is a sovereign power that keeps His distance and is not interested in the personal affairs of men. If they would just read their Bibles, they would see that couldn’t be further from the truth concerning God’s caring nature. He is absolutely interested in every part of our lives and is jealous for our affections. He wants to be everything to us, so we can enjoy His goodness and very personal care of us.

Not only does God think about us all the time, He cares deeply for us too. 1 Peter 5:7 says He cares for us affectionately and cares about us watchfully! (AMPC) In Hebrews 13:5, He says He will never leave us, nor forsake us – He is completely committed to us! Then in Matthew 6:32-33 we are told that God knows every one of our personal needs and desires, and wants us to trust Him to provide them for us, in abundance.

Do you see just from these few scriptures, that are amongst so many more of the same kind, we can confidently know that we belong to a Heavenly Father Who is generous? And He is as generous as He is personal!

This should stir up your faith to come before Him and ask for His help, knowing full well that He is both willing and able to give it to you!

John 16:23-24 (AMPC) says, “…I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that My Father will grant you whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM]. Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I AM]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.”

Please remember, the Name of Jesus has been given to the Church as our possession. Jesus gave us His Name. There is such power in that Name! A name is only as good as the person from whom it comes. How good a name is depends on the authority that is backing that name. Philippians 2:9-10 says, “Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, that in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth” (AMPC).

Don’t become intimidated by the things that are happening in the world around you. Don’t get caught up by the signs of the times that conjure up fear in the strongest of men and women. Know who your God is, and that He has given you His Name that is greater than any threat or trouble. He has promised to back that Name with the full power of heaven when you use it.

So do what He has told His church to do – trust in Him, use His Name, and let Him prove to you that He is as generous as He is personal to save you from all trouble, supernaturally provide for you, and fill your life to overflowing with His abundant goodness. Hallelujah!

Jenny and I love and appreciate you, and fully expect the blessing of the Lord to overtake you as you trust in His generosity towards you personally, especially when you sow
into His kingdom this month.

2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it” ) giver [whose heart is in his giving].”
